Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has likened the performance of the Ghana Black Stars in the 2019 African Cup of Nations to that of the Akufo-Addo government, stating they are all incompetent.
The Black Stars failed in their bid to advance to the round of 8 in the tournament when they Tuesday evening lost 4:5 to Tunisia on penalty shootout.
While some Ghanaians have taken on the Black Stars on social media, others descended on the coach, James Kwesi Appiah, accusing him of failing to make changes when it mattered. Some have already started calling for his head.

He said the Black Stars could not have performed better than they did under the leadership of the Akufo-Addo’s government, which he described as being “incompetent”.
He referred to a Facebook post he made on June 25 where spelt doom for the Black Stars, stating “you’ll [Black Stars] not return with even indomie”.
“The team you have is incompetent, the team you have is reflective of the government we have, incompetent”, he said Tuesday.

In trying to justify his comparison, he likened coach Kwasi Appiah to President Akufo-Addo, captain Andrew Dede Ayew to Senior Minister, Yaw Osarfo Marfo, and General Captain Asamoah Gyan to vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“You have a coach that is technically bankrupt, [like] President Akufo-Addo. You have a captain who is gone past his prime, [like] Osafo-Marfo. You have a General Captain who is more of a jamma leader, [like] Bawumia,” contended.
The government, he argued, is “reflective of the team and I can take it player by player and show you their representatives in the government sector”.

Disband the team
The former presidential staffer wants the whole team disbanded and a new one constituted with young players from the junior teams.
“Disband the team and get a real fulcrum, if we cannot get foreign players, let’s build our local league, let’s get a proper national team of local players, have a national development plan for the next four years and rebuild the Black Stars,” he said.
MP for Ledzokuku , Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye also expressed disappointment in the performance of the Black Stars, asking that Ghanaians make a bold decision on Kwesi Appiah as coach of the national team.
