The Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery says armed robbery cases in the country has reduced drastically as compared to previous years.
According to him, the country recorded a total of 1,101 armed robbery cases from June to December 2018 as compared to 868 cases from January 2019 to date.

Responding to a question on the Floor by Member of Parliament for Garu, Albert Akuka Alazuuha, the Minister told Parliament that the government last year approved the recruitment of 4,000 personnel into the police service of which 2,000 are currently undergoing training at various centres in the country.
He added that the government in the past 18 months presented 481 vehicles to the police service to intensify their operations.

The Minister said the joint Police/Military patrols code named ‘Operation Calm Life’ has also been intensified in the fight against crime and armed robbery in the country.
Mr Dery also assured Parliament that the government was committed to the fight against armed robbery menace in the country.
He also stressed the need for the public to furnish police personnel with the needed information to flush out criminals.
