The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress has described as unfortunate the tagging of Nigerians as criminals.
To Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Nigerians should not be responsible for the country’s problems because institutions in the country have failed to work with laws to deal rightfully with criminals.

“The right for migrants is a human right, the issue has to do with the laws of the country. Any foreigner who comes to a country needs to obey the laws of the country, but our problem is that we have failed to allow the laws to work in our institutions and so we cannot blame Nigerians for all these problems.
“The same way Nigerians are involved in kidnapping, it is the same way some Ghanaians are also involved in it. How can you arrest such a person and then go straight ahead and say Nigerians brought kidnapping?” he noted on Accra based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

But, Mr Nketia believes there are criminals in every country’s population and profiling Nigerians as criminals is wrong.
“We have criminals in every country, so how do you single out only Nigerians or even some foreigners as criminals? Let’s focus on how our institutions can work with the laws and that is how we stop this stereotype issue,” he noted.
