Concert Party was the lifeline of the weekend some decades ago in the Ghanaian entertainment sphere.
Weekend was boring without updates from the satiric and comedy show that was telecast live across the nation to aid people ease off weekday’s pressure.
It had popular comedians and professional drama troops perform. Most of the Kumawood actors today were skilled through the show that was previously called ‘Key Soap Concert Party’, which connected people of all classes every Saturday at the National Theatre.

It also gave chance for musicians to take the spotlight if they were highly talented.
Fast forward, the show took a nosedive when sponsors failed to keep it on its toes but it has been revived with the aid of a partnership that was signed between the National Theatre Board and the Multimedia Group Limited yesterday, June 18, 2019 at the National Theatre, Accra.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Wednesday, Mr Anane Adjei, communications director for National Theatre said the new face of the show would be hugely patronised than before.
According to him, Concert Party projects Ghanaian values and put the nation on the map with regards to theatre arts.

“Ghanaians truly cherish it. They call it ‘Our Concert Party’; it’s something that belongs to the people and we have prepared well to make sure it’s sustained. It’s going to be bigger than before and we have in line our five-year strategic plan to cement it,” he said.
He urged individuals and corporations that wish to sponsor to be quick at it.
His assertions were supported by Adom TV‘s channel manager, Abena Yiadom, who also said the show would take turns in many regions in the country.

“We will not only do it in Accra. There are times we would visit other regions too. It’s a nationwide event and we would make sure patrons enjoy it better than before,” she said.
