Rescue of Canadians: 14 people including 3 Nigerians arrested

It has emerged that 14 people, including three Nigerians, have been arrested in connection with the two Canadian women who were abducted by unknown assailants in Kumasi last week.

Another Nigerian is reported to be on the run.

The suspects, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, held Bailey Jordan Chitty, 20, and Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, at a house in Sawaba, a suburb in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

Their captivity lasted seven days since they were forced into a taxi on June 4.

A statement released by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Wednesday morning revealed that the rescue operation was carried out by National Security Operatives in the early hours of Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
