Audio: Many Ghanaians can’t sleep with their eyes closed – NDC MP

-

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu constituency in the Northern region, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini says Ghanaians are not safe under the Akufo-Addo government.

“We are talking about Canadians, what about Ghanaians? This news is not something we should be gloating about. We have never gone through what we are going through today. Our security is in a mess. The security and safety of Ghanaians today are in jeopardy. Many Ghanaians today can’t sleep with their eyes closed including me,” he claimed.

Mr Fuseini was speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, Wednesday following the rescue of the Canadian women who were kidnapped in Kumasi, about a week ago.

The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who made the announcement in a statement issued on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, said the “National Security Operatives in the early hours of Wednesday completed an operation which successfully rescued the two Canadian women recently abducted in the Ashanti region.”

But, an angry Fuseini could not fathom why the security agencies were able to rescue the Canadian women when they had failed to produce the three kidnapped Takoradi girls.

To him, there are many competent police officers who are capable of working hard for the country, but they have been sidelined, a situation he claimed had created a state of insecurity.

“The enviable image of this country is now being dragged in dirty gutters. Now alerts are being issued across the country left and right. This current Inspector General of Police has done more reshuffles than the results he has achieved. There are many competent police officers but they have been sidelined.

“We are interested in results, and not friends and cronies as everybody is complaining that our security is in a mess,” he stated.
