Asantehene cuts sod for a nine-storey hostel facility at KNUST

The Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cut sod for the construction of a nine-storey Alumni Hostel facility worth 70 million dollars at the Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology (KNUST), to accommodate the increasing number of students who are enrolled in the institution.

This was featured in the Chancellor’s Day organised by KNUST in honor of His Royal Majesty in commemoration of his 20 years anniversary after ascending the Golden Stool as the king of Asanteman.

In an address to the media, the Chief Executive Officer of SAFI Properties Limited, the company awarded the contact for the construction, Mr Samuel Freduah Agyemang, said the Hostel is expected to be completed in eight months.

Mr Agyemang hinted that after construction, the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) hostel facility for SAFI Properties, is expected to accommodate 4,000 students.

On his part, the Board Chairman of Safi Properties Limited, Bishop Divine Adjei, lauded the support of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Obiri Danso towards their operations in the school.

He explained how the company will be executing a number of projects to help with the facelift of the institution after the current project.
