Assin Anwhiasu chief ‘sells’ community solar light batteries to scrap dealers

The Chief of Assin Anwhiasu in the Central region, Nana Kwanin Ababio III is currently facing the wrath of his people for allegedly selling the community’s solar light batteries to scrap dealers.

According to the youth in the area, the chief used proceeds from sale of the solar batteries to procure plastic chairs for his palace.

Assemblyman of Assin Anwhiasu Electoral Area, Thomas Owusu Eturu, confirmed the story to Adom News.

He claimed the chief has so far sold two of the batteries for GH₵40.00 each.

Mr Eturu alleged that, one of the scrap dealers, whom he saw holding the solar batteries, claimed Nana Kwanin Ababio III sold it to him.

Angered by the development, the Assemblyman said “I confronted the chief and he confirmed it explaining that, he needed money to buy plastic chairs.”

Meanwhile, Nana Kwanin Ababio in response to the allegation said the community is now connected to the national grid, thus, the solar batteries are of no use.

Selling it to buy plastic chairs for the palace, he believed was a worthy cause in the interest of the community.
