- Are the sexual minds of men and women different?
The highly sexual but relationship-oriented ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ book trilogy has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide to a predominantly female audience. Does that mean women like highly objectified hard-core pornography than soft sexual fantastical encounter? Well, the sexual mind of a woman is far more complicated than men. If you show a picture of a couple having sex to a woman and a man separately, they will notice different things. The man will focus on the nudity and the action imagining what could he have done in the situation and the woman will focus on the intimacy shared, kissing and cuddling of bodies feeling the sensations. This is why women and men have different sexual needs and behave differently in bed too!
- The research!
Based on research conducted by A New Nerve Centre for Neurology and results integrated by neuropsychologists and scientific consultant Carla Clark from hundreds of studies for meta-analysis have some very interesting points to make. Taking a cue based on the research, here are some of the striking points that might help you understand your partner better.
- Body parts versus the whole act
Men do not lose focus. They can get excited by a picture of female body parts and hence also focus on each part while in action too. For them, a sexual encounter can be divided into sections each dedicated to the female body parts. Their obsession with breasts is proof enough. Women, on the contrary, want a complete act – starting from an intimate kiss to a satisfying physical relationship, women want men to operate on the complete act.
- Relationship versus sex
As mentioned above, men always focus on sex – what they want to do in bed and how they want to enjoy a woman’s body but women focus on the relationship intimacy aspect. Women can be easily turned on with an intimate touch, kiss or hug leading finally to satisfying sex.
- Love-making versus making out
For most women a sexual encounter is about love-making – it has a story, it has feelings to share, emotional intimacy and memories to make and then it is a successful encounter. But for men, they are waiting to jump to conclusions, literally! Men compartmentalize sex and love differently and do not want to mix them. For them sex means sex.
- Self-pleasure has different meanings
Pornography is addictive for men and women equally. Women also enjoy watching porn as much as men. But when it comes to self-pleasure, women concentrate more on the physical intimacy shown in porn and which is what arouses them. Men concentrate on hardcore male-oriented erotica and a series of sexual acts which gives them sexual pleasure while masturbation.
- Orgasm is not sex versus orgasm is sex
Most men think that a woman’s orgasm can only be achieved by sex but that is not the truth. Since women believe in intimacy, for them any sexual interaction which satisfies their emotional need and stimulates their mind can lead to orgasm.
- Sex in mental compartments
As discussed above, men find it challenging to relate between love and a sexual encounter. Both are different and have separate value in their lives. This is the main reason when men cheat they do not feel guilty about a one-night stand, because it has no relation to their existing love life. Sex is compartmentalized in their brain and does not mix up with the other. On the contrary, for women sex is a part of their relationship. This is the prime reason why they will never be comfortable with their guy getting involved in a one-night stand.
