Build event centres not Cathedral – Abeiku Santana

Ghanaian presenter, Abeiku Santana has joined a long list of Ghanaians who are kicking against the building of a National Cathedral in the country.

According to him, even though the move is a positive idea, it is not a dying need for the country.

According to him, it will only be right to channel resources to construct event centres rather than a Cathedral in Ghana.

The President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is on the drive to build a National Cathedral in Accra to serve as a spiritual centre for believers in the country.

But according to Abeiku Santana, the creation of ultra-modern event centres rather will boost the “injured” entertainment industry and provide jobs for the youth who engulfed by unemployment.

“I haven’t said the National Cathedral isn’t right. We have worshippers who would patronize it but event centres employ different category of people including musicians, bloggers, make-up artists, light and stage technicians, DJs, Presenters, producers, decorators, etc; hence providing event centres will boost the creative industry as well as create jobs,” he told Sammykaymedia.

Abeiku Santana added “the country needs event centres to host several huge social events. We need centres that can host so many foreigners at a show.”

“The Cathedral is limited for only church events but most of the youth graduating from schools are doing music and not pastoring. We all go to church and we love God, but we need event centres not a Cathedral,” he concluded.
