Head of the Communications Department of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo
Duku has revealed that his side will be ready to face their next opponents,
Coton Sports and make it to the next round of the competition.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, the
experienced administrator said the team was in good shape and are still
preparing feverishly for the task ahead.
According to him, there has been no change to the training
regime that was employed to play and kick out their Kenyan opponents.
“We are very much aware of the task ahead and are preparing
very well to play the Cameroonian giants. We have not laid down our guards at
all. We are preparing like we did against Kariobangi Sharks”, he said.
Elaborating on their preparations, he said unlike the first
hurdle where they played two friendlies in Accra, the team, this time around,
will be based in Kumasi and play the J.A Kuffour anniversary cup on January 6
with all seriousness before travelling to play in Cameroon.
“We will use the game against AshantiGold in the President
J.A Kuffor Anniversary match to test our readiness before we travel to Cameroon
since there is no competitive league and we know AshantiGold will attach all
the seriousness”, he added.
Sarfo Duku also hinted that head Coach C.K Akunnor is upbeat
about their opponents and have enough knowledge to map up a good strategy to
play and come back to Ghana with a good result.
Asante Kotoko will enplane to Cameroon on January 10 and
play Coton Sport on January 13.
