Me Wo Case Anaa: Lawyer urges Legal Aid to partner Adom TV’s “Me Wo Case Anaa”

-

A Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has urged the Legal Aid Board to partner Adom TV legal show, “Me Wo Case Anaa” to help it in fulfilling its mandate of providing a legal solution to the less-privileged.

According to him, the legal show has helped in solving many legal problems hence Legal Aid should take advantage of it and resource the show for the effective running of their centre.

He added that though Legal Aid may not have enough resources to combat legal problems, the centre should call on the media or individuals for support.

It is Mr. Ampaw’s believe that by trumpeting their challenges, the government will get terrified for fear of being victimised or sacked from the job.

He accused the Legal Aid outfit of inefficiency in spite of their many years of existence.

Mr. Ampaw cited Special Prosecutor (S.P), Martin Amidu who he said has been given the needed resources to work due to the number of times he has complained about a lack of resources for his office.

“The moment your centre begins to fire the government about how bad your institution has become, they quickly bring help and legal aid should do that”, Maurice Ampaw said.

He said institutions such as Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and National Commission for Civic and Education (NCCE) should be scrabbed because they are not playing their roles well in terms of fighting for domestic justice or educating the citizenry.

On why Lawyers take high amounts of money when helping people with legal problems, he blamed it on the attitudes of some Ghanaians which he said are annoying.

He explained that the societal pressure on lawyers is responsible for the high demand for legal fees.

Maurice Ampaw added that dealing with a poor client as a lawyer is more difficult and annoying because poor clients prone to complaints especially when they give lawyer money in contrast to rich clients.

Maurice Ampau made these points on Adom TV’s Legal Show “Me Wo Case Anaa” with Afia Pokua.
