The Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central constituency, Naana Eyiah Quansah has called on the Ghana Police Service to force the suspect of the Takoradi kidnappings to reveal the whereabouts of the girls and his accomplices.
The Western Regional Police say they have tried unsuccessfully to get a suspected kidnapper to disclose the whereabouts of some teenage girls he has abducted.
According to Commander, Redeemer Vincent Dedzo, the suspect, Samuel Wilson Udoterg – a Nigerian – who has been in their custody for weeks, has until now refused to reveal the exact location of the girls and there is nothing the police can do about it.

“We have tried all means to talk to him. In the initial stages, he took us to Kasoa [Central region suburb] and we combed the whole of Kasoa yet he could not lead us to where the victims are.
“He is not even ready to talk. He will tell you he doesn’t know where the victims are,” the Commander stated on Joy News’ Pulse show.
About seven girls, including Ruth Quayeson, Priscilla Koranchie and Priscilla Bentum whose disappearance have triggered the ‘bring back our Taadi girls campaign’ were kidnapped in Takoradi last year.

The police have, however, failed to get the suspect who broke jail once and has been re-arrested to talk, accusing him of leading them on a wild goose chase at Kasoa.
Some have described the police as simply incompetent; a criticism the Regional Police Commander disagrees with.
But speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show, the MP said Ghanaians believe the police can get to the root of this matter thus should not disappoint them.

“The police have all the logistics at their disposal to aid their work but it seems they are been slow in dealing with the kidnap issue. They should try all possible means to get the suspect to speak because it is obvious he knows something to aid the process but has decided to be silent” she stated.
