AshantiGold not a serious club – Kotoko chief

-

Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, George Amoako, has lashed out at Ashanti Gold SC insisting that the Porcupine Warriors are not interested in their trio due to their ‘unprofessional’ conduct.

Asante Kotoko has been keen to sign striker Shafiu Mumuni; midfielders, Richard Dodji; and James Akaminko from the Miners to beef-up their CAF Confederations Cup squad.

According to George who spoke on Asempa FM, Ashanti Gold is not a serious club because instead of their executives responding to Kotoko’s request professionally, they were rather on radio quoting figures.

“I met, one-on-one with their chief executive [Frederick Acheampong] and he asked that I formally write to him for negotiations which I have done. Instead of writing back to me formally on their terms, they are instead replying me on-air [radio] which is unprofessional, it means you are not serious,” the Kotoko chief explained.

“I have boycotted all those requests; I don’t need them, and I cannot rely on such situations to build my team. I have barely 72 hours to register players and listen to this talk on air, I have abandoned them [the Ashanti Gold players], and we are moving forward without them,” he fumed.

The miners have slapped one million dollars ($1 million) on Ivorian Richard Dodji while Shafiu Mumuni and James Akaminko have been valued at five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.)
