Police debunks fake NAM1 arrest warrant

-

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) David Eklu has debunked claims of the fake arrest warrant for Nana Appiah Mensah who is the CEO of gold dealership firm Menzgold and a wanted man in Ghana now.

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia on January 11, 2019 while speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme described the arrest warrant for troubled gold dealership company, Menzgold Ghana Limited, CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah as fake.

According to Mr. Asiedu Nketia, the document was just part of government’s plan to cover up the relationship between Nana Appiah Mensah and President Akufo-Addo.

To General Mosquito, there is no way a warrant would be issued in the name of the President, hence the document is fake and therefore should be disregarded.

However, speaking on the same show on Monday, ACP David Eklu debunked these claims of General Mosquito stating the arrest warrant is original.

“We have an ordinary copy of the arrest warrant and because it is a police form, that is the standard headline and is numbered.”

ACP Eklu however said the arrest warrant had the president’s name because he is the leader of the country.

“Everything legal is done in the name of the republic but because the president is head of the country, it is possible to have his name on the warrant.”
