Zoomlion partners Church of Pentecost on sanitation campaign

As part of it efforts to combat filth in the country, the Church of Pentecost has launched a sanitation campaign.

The initiative in collaboration with sanitation giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited is aimed at rallying members of the Church of Pentecost and Zoomlion staff to improve the level of sanitation in the country.

The campaign themed “Environmental care, my responsibility” is to feed into President  Akufo-Addo’s mantra of making Accra the cleanest city in the sub-region.

Speaking at the launch of the sanitation campaign, Apostle Nyamekye said the campaign forms part of the church’s vision for the year 2018 and beyond.
Apostle Nyamekye said the campaign among other things seek to instill in members the discipline to be physically responsible and involved in the care and cleaning of the environment.
He noted that, the Church of Pentecost has over 2 million members nationwide thus more than capable to leading the clean Ghana campaign.
On community-based initiatives, Apostle Nyamekye said each of their branches nationwide will identify challenges related to the environment and find solutions to such problems.
The first clean up under the campaign, he noted would take place in Kasoa on Saturday November 24.
The Church of Pentecost Chairman said Zoomlion has offered to distribute 500 waste bins and has also agreed to erect some litter bins at some strategic places in the area, Apostle Eric Nyamekye announced.
He added that Zoomlion will “be providing personnel and equipment during our clean-up exercises across the nation.”
The launch of the sanitation campaign was attended by the Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mohammed Adjei Sowah and the Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, among others.

The CEO of Zoomlion, Mr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong; Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah; Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Mohammed Adjei Sowah all pledged the support of their respective institutions to ensure that the campaign achieves its objectives.

The Environmental Care Campaign follows similar ones by the Church of Pentecost including the Agent of Peace Campaign in 2016 prior to the general elections, and Entrepreneurship and Investment as well as Gambling and Social Media campaign in 2017.
