The Awtu Ofaakor Circuit Court in the Central Region has sentenced 24-year-old Michael Essiamah to 10 years in prison with hard labour after for kidnapping two children aged 5 and 7 at Congo villa, a suburb in Kasoa.
Michael Essiamah was arrested on October 6, 2018, by the Ofaakor Police headed by DSP Christopher Darkey at his hideout in Prampram.

This was after one of the victims he released after taking a ransom led the police to an accomplice who subsequently took the police to Michael’s hideout.
According to the prosecutor, Michael who is a family friend of the kid’s family took the children out under the pretext of going to the barbering shop but never returned.
Michael afterwards, called the family to demand a ransom of GHC3,000.00 as a precondition for the release of the kids.

He was however paid GHC2,700 in which GHC 1,500 was for the first and GHC 1,200 for the second child.
Michael pleaded guilty to the charge against him in the court presided over by his Lordship Ebenezer Osei Darko and was sentenced on his own plea.
