FIFA gave Nyantakyi audience prior to ban – Randy Abbey suggests

Contrary to assertions that FIFA did not give audience to Ghana’s “football people” prior to giving a lifetime ban to Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, former spokesperson of the football governing body, Randy Abbey, says that can’t be accurate.

According to Randy, the wording in Mr Nyantakyi’s appeal to CAS indicates the world football governing body heard him out.

“Nyantakyi’s letter to CAS is a clear indication that FIFA heard him out before coming out with their verdict so one cannot establish that only the information given by government formed a basis for his ban and no football person was listened to,” he added.

The former Communications Director of the GFA has also explained that the onus lies on the government to prosecute Kwesi Nyantakyi after FIFA has banned him from all footballing activities.

The Kpando Heart of Lions Director told Asempa FM that Tiger Eye PI, who conducted the June 6 expose, stated all the breaches when they presented their case to FIFA and what government did was to add the Dzamefe report.

“Since the government has said they are gathering evidence, it is within their right to proceed to court with evidence they will gather or otherwise. The information they provide FIFA was old knowledge which was made known earlier through Anas’ appeal. All the government did, was to add the Dzamefe Commission report”, he said.

Randy Abbey also established that only Congress can decide if members of the old administration can be a part of the new leadership of the Ghana Football Association thus it is wrong for the public to call for their outright expulsion from football.
