Defeated Eastern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng has denied allegations that executives in the region have publicly declared their support for the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
It was reported that many constituency executives of the NDC in the Eastern Region have publicly declared their support for Mr Bagbin, who is contesting for the flag bearer position of the party.

The reports claim the executives had promised to work to ensure Mr Bagbin’s victory in the primaries scheduled for December 7, 2018, stressing that the Nadowli/Kaleo lawmaker “will get our votes”.
According to the reports, the executives said prior to their encounter with Mr Bagbin in Akim Oda on Sunday, 22 October 2018, they had a difficulty settling on a favourite among the 12 aspirants.

But Mr Tawiah has denied ever endorsing Mr Bagbin. He said although a few may have endorsed him, it does not necessarily mean a majority of the executives support Mr Bagbin’s bid.
“As an opinion leader and a former executive, I can tell you that those who support Alban may be just two people and if two or three people endorse you, it doesn’t mean all of us have endorsed Alban,” he said on Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.
Mr Tawiah said the only candidate they consider in the region is former president John Mahama.

“Mahama is the only person we know and will vote for him. He is the one we have endorsed and have even started campaigning for him. Mahama is the best choice” he noted.
