Former Black Stars defender and manager of Asante Kotoko, Frimpong Manso, has admonished Ghanaians to respect and treat black stars attacker, Asamoah Gyan as a captain if he is still a part of the team.
He said the problems facing the senior national team started from Brazil and has not be tackled till now.
He also hinted that Ghanaians are to blame when we say the team spirit is gone down because people are always bad-mouthing Asamoah Gyan.
“A lot has happened with the team in recent years and we are now getting back on track but Ghanaians are to blame too. Ghanaians killed Asamoah Gyan with their bad stories but he is strong that is why he is still with the team”, he said.
Frimpong Manso also advised that Asamoah Gyan’s confidence is rebuilt so he can lead the team as a captain even though there are other players who are showing glimpses of being good leaders.
“Let us rebuild the confidence of Gyan so he can provide the needed leadership. The quality of players is no longer available like it used to but Coach Appiah is blending the young and experienced players very well for 2019”, he added.
