Flagbearer hopeful for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Ricketts-Hagan says he will scrap the double-track system being implemented in Senior High Schools (SHSs) if he becomes President of Ghana.

According to him, he will not hesitate to abolish the policy as a President of Ghana without even reviewing it.

“I not will hesitate to scrap the double track system; I know it will still be running even before I become president but I will make sure it’s scrapped without review,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday.

The double-track system was introduced by the Akufo-Addo government for some selected second-cycle institutions in September 2018.

Under the double-track system which was introduced to help accommodate the spike in student enrolment, the first batch of candidates placed on a GREEN TRACK, resumed school on 11 September 2018, whereas the GOLD TRACK (second batch) will resume on 8 November 2018.

The first trackers will attend classes for a total period of 41 days while the second trackers are expected to spend a period of 40 days in school.

But the NDC MP for Cape Coast South, condemning the policy said the NPP government introducing a shift system for SHS doesn’t “help to continue to implement this all-important free SHS programme on an ad-hoc basis.”
