A Pastoral Gerontologist at the Centre for Aging Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, Rev. Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, has called on the government to build special hospitals and clinics for the aged in the country.
According to him, the treatment given the aged at regular hospitals call for them to have their own special hospitals and clinics.

Rev. Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong said doctors who specialise in taking care of the aged, are few hence the need to train more.
“We have Pediatrician who take care of children, Gynecologists who take specialise in taking care of women so do we need Geriatricians to take care of the aged, he stated.
He was speaking at a ceremony organised by the MTN Ghana and Centre for Ageing Studies to cater for the aged.
Under the programme, over 300 aged were catered for and also educated on how they could take care of themselves without going through stress.

Many health professionals were there to grace the programme.
Meanwhile, the Education Portfolio Adviser of MTN Ghana, Ebenezer Terkpe said they want to create awareness about the need for people to care for the aged.
