Former Ghanaian international midfielder Yussif Chibsah has advised Ghanaian Premier and Division One clubs and the Normalization Committee to have a standard contract that will see to the welfare of players.
The former Asante Kotoko playmaker who is now an executive of Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has bemoaned the poor welfare of, especially, Premier league players and wants the Normalization Committee to ensure club owners take the welfare of footballers serious since their carrier is seasonal.
“Welfare of Ghanaian players is not taken seriously at all hence player exodus and immaturity of the talents that leave the shores of the country. I advocate that the Normalization Committee ensures that all the clubs arrive at a standard contract that will pay the footballers better”, he explained.
Speaking on the Ultimate Sports Show, Chibsah revealed that some club owners use sponsorship packages to acquire personal properties instead of paying the footballers well and wishes that the Normalization Committee can task all clubs to pay players a minimum of 700gh.
“The Normalization Committee must handle the cash that comes in as sponsorships since most club owners do not use it for the intended purposes but instead enrich themselves and buy private properties depriving the footballers what they deserve” he added
The knowledgeable former star accepted that economic challenge is a global problem but believes something can be done about it to make the Ghanaian game more attractive.
