Audio: Akufo-Addo engaging in “dwarf trade” – Baba Jamal

-

A former Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region, Baba Jamal has accused the Akufo-Addo-led government of engaging in a “dwarfs” trade.

Ghanaians, according to Mr Jamal, Ghanaians are currently experiencing unparallel levels of hard times, worse than the living conditions the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made noise about when he the NDC was in power.

“I always say that Nana Addo’s government is behaving like dwarfs engaging in trade. When you trade with dwarfs, monies mysteriously get padded or vanish and that is what Akufo-Addo is doing with the Ghanaian economy,” he said.

Mr Jamal was speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show Badwam Thursday, on the hikes being experienced in fuel prices within the last few weeks.

Fuel prices crossed the GHc5 per litre mark earlier in the week, giving rise to calls for the government to cushion consumers against economic hardship.

But the former MP believes the only solution is for government to scrap the special petroleum tax to drive down the cost of fuel.

According to him, the government must consider its options carefully as fuel prices rise.

The special petroleum tax has outlived its usefulness and must be scrapped to bring fuel prices down at a time when world market prices allow government to make a windfall of 10 million dollars per day from crude exports,” he noted.
