Akufo Addo gov’t lacks political will to run Komenda Sugar Factory – Ex Manager of Komenda Sugar factory

A former member and secretary to the Komenda Sugar Project Management Board, Ransford Chatman Vanni-Amoah, says the Akufo-Addo-led administration lacks the political will to run the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region.

His comments come after President Akufo-Addo said the government is currently scouting for a strategic investor to inject life into the struggling Komenda Sugar factory.

While lamenting the lack of proper planning in the implementation of the project by the Mahama administration, President Akufo-Addo gave assurances of ensuring that the factory becomes viable.

This, he believes, will bring economic relief to the area.

The previous plan that established it [the factory] is not the best. Those who started it could not complete it and that is why we came to meet staggering dent and an idle factory.

The Minister of Trade and Industry is looking for a strategic investor to come and invest here. We are still searching for one because the initial plans were not the best. We are now coming to organise things,” President Akufo-Addo.”

But reacting to the development, Mr Vanni-Amoah said President Akufo-Addo is only being dishonest to the people of Komenda and Ghanaians as a whole.

According to him, during his management, over 11 investors showed interest in the Komenda Sugar factory which he said was captured in the handing over notes.

“We contracted some companies to invest and in the process, we had 11 companies who showed interest and all was communicated to the NPP government before they came to power so why should Akufo-Addo lie to Ghanaians about the state of the factory,” he said.

He also debunked rumours that the soil condition for the factory is not suitable.

Akufo Addo is making those claims because he believes the soil is not suitable but I can boldly and tell him that the soil condition is suitable and has been there for so many years. They should tell us what they are doing about the acres of land given purposely for the factory” he noted on Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.
