An Accra Circuit Court on Monday convicted a nursing mother to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for 24 months for sending abusive and threatening text messages to her boyfriend’s mother.
Nana Adwoa, who is unemployed, in default will serve six months imprisonment.
Charged with domestic violence to wit: emotional and psychological abuse, Nana Adwoa pleaded guilty.
Nana Adwoa told the court that she sent the message full of insults to her boyfriend’s mother because her boyfriend’s mother had asked her son not to take care of their two children.

The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku advised her to desist from insulting people, noting that Nana Adwoa also insulted the Police Investigator in the case.
Prosecution Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo said the complainant Janet Aforo, is the mother of the convict’s boyfriend who resides at Tema Community 18 whiles Nana Adwoa resides at Teshie in Accra.
The prosecution said both parties have had a protracted feud for some time now. On April 6, this year, Nana Adwoa sent abusive and threats via mobile phone in pidgin language to wit: “If u really sick like u claim, I wish u death, U will die soon old wretched witch of a hag, you have killed your husband,” to the complainant’s phone.

The prosecution said the complainant after reading the messages went to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Nungua and a formal complaint was made.
