The Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on the party to sanction leaders of a group calling itself Social Democratic Forum over their ethnocentric comments.
Bernard Allotey Jacobs said it will be politically suicidal if the young men are not punished for their misguided statements.

The Social Democratic Forum in a statement recently accused former President John Rawlings, Tobge Afede XIV and some top senior members of the NDC of conspiring to derail any attempt by Mr. Mahama to lead the party as the presidential candidate ahead of elections in 2020.
The group also cited General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, former NDC Chairman Obed Yao Asamoah and Kwabena Adjei, another ex-NDC Chairman, as all being privy to the plot hatched by the NDC ‘Volta Cults’to ditch John Mahama in the 2016 elections, and on and on into the next 2020 elections.
But former President John Mahama has disassociated himself from comments by the group adding that the comments do not reflect his views.

A statement signed by his aide, Joyce Bawa Mogtari said: “the Office of HE John Dramani Mahama has noted with concern a statement from a group calling itself the Social Democratic Forum, which contains unacceptable tribal undertones”.
“The said group is unknown to the Office and indeed the National Democratic Congress (NDC). We condemn the tribal undertones of the statement and rejects its content entirely,” the statement said.
However on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Allotey Jacobs the former President disassociating himself from the group is not enough.
He urged them to write formally to the NDC leadership for the group to be sanction for drawing Mr. Mahama’s name in the mud.

The NDC Central Regional Chairman is convinced the supposed Social Democratic Forum are not members of the NDC.
“I believe this group just wants to destroy John Mahama’s campaign. They are not in NDC” he stated.
This notwithstanding, Allotey Jacobs wants the party to take action on the group if they are NDC members to serve as a deterrent to others.
