The Narcotic Control Board (NACOB) has destroyed narcotic substances estimated at GHC400 million.
The drugs were burnt on the premises of the Bundase Military Training Camp in the full glare of journalists and officials from the court, the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), and Environmental Protection Council.

Personnel from the GSA tested the drugs to confirm if they were the actual drugs intercepted, after which they were set ablaze.
The action was based on a December 19, 2017 court order for NACOB to burn the narcotics seized from drug traffickers.
The Deputy Chief Narcotic Analyst and Head of Enforcement at NACOB, Solomon Stanley Eyo told Adom News Reporter Kofi Nkansah that the illegal substances included cannabis and karth seized at the various entry points such as Kotoka International Airport, borders and Ghana Post.
He said their intelligence team also found a lot of the drugs, particularly the cannabis at Asesewa in the Eastern Region.
“We invited the media to clear the erroneous perception among Ghanaians that NACOB seizes drugs and later sells to the traffickers,” Eyo noted.
He said the destruction was to send a signal to the public that the drugs were harmful to the human body, adding that one person was arrested and the matter is still under investigation.
