The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has said that he has rescinded his earlier decision to contest the National Chairman position of the party.
‘Chairman Wontumi’ as he is called said he initially wanted to contest the highest position in the NPP after the party after leading the party to win overwhelmingly in the Ashanti Region.
“I initially wanted to contest the National Chairmanship position, but I have rescinded that decision…,” he said.
According to the businessman, he rescinded his decision after careful considerations and has decided to stay in the Ashanti Region and consolidate the gains of the party in the region.
“I wanted to be the national chairman of the NPP but I have decided to stay in Ashanti region so we can consolidate our gains…,” he said.
This decision, he said also explains why he refused to accept political position from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He further wondered why the NDC would dream of winning the 2020 elections when they lost massively in 2016 when they were in power.
“Even at the time when you had the state apparatus in you favour, we beat you severely and what do you think will happen when you are in opposition?,” he quizzed.
