AUDIO: ‘Wee smokers’ allegedly kill soldier

Unconfirmed reports say an unidentified military officer has been killed by some alleged “wee” smokers at Liberia Camp in the Gomoa East district on Thursday night.

Two others said to have been injured are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kasoa.

Yaw Boadi who witnessed the incident tells Adom News’ Kofi Adjei the deceased in the company of two other colleagues clashed with some residents whilst on a visit to see their girlfriends.

He said the officers clashed with the locals who turned out to be the lovers of the same women the officers were seeing.

This according to him degenerated into an argument between the two groups.

One of the locals, a known wee smoker stabbed the unidentified officer in the neck, inflicting machete wounds on the other two officers who run for their lives.

Though the officers managed to escape, one of them reportedly died at the Kasoa hospital.

Shocked Assemblyman for the Budumburam Electoral area, Prince Charles Kofi Aidoo who confirmed the incident has condemned the conduct of the young men he described as notorious.

“These ‘wee’ boys always arrange with their girlfriends to take money from would-be lovers. When the women fail to account properly to them, they either fight with you or stab you. That’s exactly what has happened to our military men,” he said.

He wants the security agencies to clamp down on the activities of these notorious groups operating in the neighborhood.

The suspects are currently on the run.
