Residents of Ashongman Estate are living in fear due to the danger posed by a huge tree right beside the road which could fall any time soon.
A team of workers who claim to be from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) have been laying pipes in the area as part of an ongoing project by the assembly to improve access to water.
In the process, they dug around the huge tree and cut the roots, leaving the tree virtually hanging on overhead electric wires and posing a threat to motorists and pedestrians.

Residents tell Adom News they are afraid the tree could shift out of balance and fall at any time, and either hurt people or cause a blackout in the area.
They explain that, they have reported the matter to the Assemblyman of the area but they are yet to see any action taken.
They are therefore calling on the Ghana Water Company Limited and relevant bodies to expedite steps to remedy the situation before disaster happens.

The foreman on site for the project, Lord Ankrah admits the risks posed by the tree but adds that they will need authorization from their superiors before they can do anything about the situation.
Assemblyman of the area, Cornelius Addo says he has laid the issue before the Assembly and spoken to the consultant in charge of the project about the issue.
He assured that the problem will be addressed within five days.
