Nigerian artiste, Davido made history as the first African-based musician to receive the “Best International Act” award on stage at the Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET) which happened at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Davido, born as David Adedeji Adeleke, won in the category which had Booba (France), Cassper Nyovest (SA), Dadju (France), Distruction Boyz (SA), Fally Ipupa (Dr. Congo), J Hus (UK), Niska (France), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Stefflon Don (UK) and Stormzy (UK), all nominated.

After receiving the award, he paid tribute and sent condolences to Dbanj who lost his 1-year-old son after he drowned in a swimming pool over the weekend.
Davido used the platform to showcase the rich culture of Africa by inviting patrons to tour the continent.
