The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Sannie-Daara has condemned recent attacks on journalists in their coverage of the Ghana Premier League warning that the federation will soon punish some clubs.

Saanie Daara in reaction to the attacks on journalists Felix Kwabena Romark and Senyuiedzorm Awusi Adadevoh by club officials during the week five clash of the Ghana Premier League.

Felix, manager of GHPL twitter and facebook handles, was assaulted by Aduana Stars club officials during their 2-0 win over Accra Hearts of Oak at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park in Dormaa Ahenkro while hardworking photographer Senyuiedzorm was verbally assaulted by Great Olympics fans and officials.

And Sannie says such acts are primitive, inhuman and not appropriate for the progress of our game.

“It’s rather unfortunate that such inhuman acts happen to journalists in this modern era. It is primitive and must be abolished. We at the FA are not happy about the happenings at all. We will take a strong decision on this,” he told GHANAsoccernet.

He then commended the media for the incessant efforts to project the league.

“I must commend the media for the relentless job they have been doing over the last few years to move the league forward.

“We have organised several seminars for these clubs on how to see the media as friends and how they can rest on the shoulders of the media to open a lot of marketing and sponsorship opportunities for their clubs.

“This is indeed bad and we condemn it in no uncertain terms,” he added.
