Multimedia apologises to Ernest Opoku over attack at its premises

-

The Multimedia Group has apologized to Ernest Opoku, the gospel musician who was attacked by one NAYAS at its premises.

In a statement issued in the name of the Group by Chief Operating Officer, Ken Ansah on Tuesday, the group described NAYAS as “well known at the station as a resource person on other Multimedia Group programmes.”

The statement explained that “she was granted access to the waiting area at Adom FM under the pretext of being part of the team that was carrying out live worship in the studios.”

“Guests on our premises receive necessary protection and that in this particular case, which is a one-off, a well-known guest unfortunately abused the privilege afforded her”, the statement explained.

As an immediate measure, the statement said Multimedia has “lodged a complaint of unlawful entry and assault against NAYAS at the Nima Police Station” and has expressed its “sincere apologies to Ernest Opoku”.

BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT

PUBLIC APOLOGY TO ERNEST OPOKU OVER INCIDENT ON ADOM FM
The Multimedia Group wishes to publicly apologize to gospel musician, Ernest Opoku, for the unfortunate occurrence on the premises of Adom FM on Monday, May 14, 2018.

The actress who attacked Ernest on our premises, NAYAS, is well known at the station as a resource person on other Multimedia Group programmes. On Monday, May 14, 2018, she was granted access to the waiting area at Adom FM under the pretext of being part of the team that was carrying out live worship in the studios.

Unknown to us, however, the impression created by the actress was false; she was not a member of the live worship team; and apparently had other intentions. On gaining access to the waiting area, she attacked Ernest with a stick, which she had kept hidden on her body. Producers acted promptly to stop the attack and drove her out of the premises. We immediately apologised to Ernest.

Thereafter, we quickly assigned one (1) of our officers to lodge a complaint of unlawful entry and assault against NAYAS at the Nima Police Station; Ernest Opoku also lodged a complaint of assault against the actress. The Police have already commenced investigations into the matter and we will cooperate with them fully to ensure that justice is swiftly served.

We wish to reiterate that at all times, guests on our premises receive necessary protection and that in this particular case, which is a one-off, a well-known guest unfortunately abused the privilege afforded her.

Our sincere apologies to Ernest Opoku once again.

We take this opportunity to appeal to all visitors to our premises, especially to public figures, not to abuse access rights that are offered to them.
