Central Regional Minister praise KEEA Assembly members

The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, praised KEEA assembly members for not making excessive demands from the President’s nominee, Nana Appiah Korang.

According to the Regional Minister, information reaching him indicates that, their demand was so minimal as compared to other places yet they gave the nominee 100 percent endorsement.

He said, if assembly members decide that this is an opportunity to squeeze so much from the nominee, this will turn to affect the total development of the assembly.

He expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for their total endorsement of the nominee.

Mr. Kwamena Duncan used the occasion to charge the newly confirmed municipal chief executive, Nana Appiah Korang, not to fail the municipality and the government as he has no excuse to fail.

According to him, he has all that he needs to succeed, as the state provide him residential accommodation, transports, free utility and other freebies so he can be comfortable to work for the development of the municipality.

The Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan finally charged the assembly members to provide critical watch dog role to ensure value for money at the assembly. This is the only way they can achieve the expected development they are desirous to take place in their respective electoral areas.

The Member of Parliament, Samuel Atta Mills used the occasion to appeal to other assembly members not to demand money from the respective nominees before they vote to confirm them.

He said, once you take money from the nominee it amounts to selling your vote. Once you sell you sell you vote, you cannot go to the chief executive to demand accountability from the district chief executive. He also appealed to the opposition parties members to put the interest of their respective assemblies above partisan interest to team up with their counterparts to confirm the nominees.

The head of the Local Government Services, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur pledged to ensure that, the Local Government Services consider Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality in any contracts they award should they give the nominee hundred percent endorsement. He charged the assembly members to be on his neck to demand the fulfillment of the promise.

The confirmed MCE, Nana Appiah Korang pledged to work hard to move the development of the Municipality forward. He pledged that his tenure will make KEEA garbage free municipality, hence he has charged the Municipal environmental officer to follow him the following to Komenda for inspection as he hit the ground running. He has called on the chiefs and the people to join hands to develop the municipality. Nana Appiah Korang outline education and employment for the youth will also feature high on his administration.
