A communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, his party isn’t a keep fit club to just walk because it feels like walking.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” on Monday, Mr Gyamfi said the party’s unity walks are part of the efforts geared towards connecting the hierarchy of the party with its grassroot base.

“NDC is not a keep fit club. We are a party who lost elections and as part of efforts to rekindle our grassroots, we decided to organise such walks to bring us together and not just walk because we feel like walking”, he said.
Sammy Gyamfi’s comment comes after some NPP critics have claimed that the ‘walks’ have failed to achieve their intended results.
Hundreds of sympathizers of the NDC hit the streets of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region last Saturday for the party’s latest unity walk.

The Bolgatanga walk became the 9th in the series of the NDC’s unity walks, aimed at uniting the party’s rank and file across the country after its defeat in the 2016 general elections.
Mr Gyamfi noted that one of the main aims of the unity walk was to help reorganize the NDC and unify the grassroots to recapture power in 2020.

He, however, debunked claims that the party buses members to the Unity Walks.
“NDC does not bus supporters to its unity walks. These supporters are not even given transport and money for food; they do so in their own free will”, he said.
