Not many paid heed to a prediction by Augustine Ansong two years ago that Apostle Eric Nyamekye will one day be elected to lead one of the fastest growing churches in the world.
The man who is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada posted on the official Facebook page of the former Koforidua Area Head of the Church of Pentecost that he was the next person to lead the church founded by Scottish preacher, James McKeown.
“This is what i saw the other day…Apostle, you are becoming the next chairman of the church of Pentecost!!,” he posted on the wall of Apostle Eric Nyamekye on January 12, 2016.
Surprisingly, no one commented or liked the comment of the man whose profile indicate that he is also into Ministry.
Two years, and three months later, the prediction of Mr Ansong came to past and Apostle Nyamekye has been elected the chairman of the Church of Pentecost at the Church’s 43rd General Council Meeting in Gomoah Fetteh.
Apostle Nyamekye passed a two-level electoral test to emerge the sixth leader of the largest Pentecostal movement in Ghana.
He was presented to the College of Apostles and Prophets by the church’s 15-member Executive Council for a vote.

He polled a convincing 147 ‘YES’ against 4 ‘NO’ in the 151-member College.
Passing the first test, he was presented to a larger body – the General Council which consists of ministers of the Church, Regional/Area Executive Committee members, National Deacons, and Trustees, chairmen of boards and committees and movement directors.
Eric Nyamekye who was called into full-time ministry in 1991 won the vote by an overwhelming margin. He got 994 out of 1099 votes, representing 98%.

With 27 years’ experience in full-time ministry, the Apostle, a known bible expositor, rose to become an Apostle in 2011.
For the next five years, Apostle Nyamekye will be presiding over the largest Pentecostal movement in Ghana.
