A middle-aged woman has been arrested by the Wenchi Divisional Police Command for stealing a 40-days-old baby.
Station Officer at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Wenchi Divisional Police Command, Sergeant John Agyare who disclosed this to Adom News’ Koofori Bossu Dienkye said the incident happened in Yooyoano, a farming community near Wenchi in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Narrating the incident, Sergeant John Agyare, said the baby has been retrieved and handed over to her mother.
According to the police, the suspect stole the baby from the mother’s room where the mother had been staying after giving birth.
He said the suspect who arrived late at night on Monday, pretended to be the baby’s Aunt.

The police said the following morning, the suspect who was cuddling the crying baby, vamoosed with the her.
Sergeant Agyare said the baby’s mother together with some youth in the area raised an alarm, leading to the arrest of the suspect in her home later, Thursday morning.
He said the police command has taken charge of the case but the suspect has been granted police bail as investigations begin.
