The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been accused of inciting Ghanaians against the Akufo-Addo led administration over the Ghana-US military pact.
According to Information Minister, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the NDC is using the deal to score political point.
“The NDC is deliberately inciting the public against government to inure to their political advantage” Mustapha Hamid told Afia Pokua, host of Adom FM’s current affairs political talk show, Burning Issues on the controversies surrounding the military pact.

Addressing the nation on the Ghana-US Military Corporation agreement, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo took on leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he described as deliberate attempts to misinform the citizenry in relation to the Ghana-US military cooperation agreement.
He described their conduct as a cynical manipulation and also referred to them as ‘reckless self-seekers’ whose actions must be condemned by well-meaning Ghanaians.

But his address did not sit well with members of the opposition NDC who have described the president’s address on the US military agreement as insulting, and amounting to dictatorship, arrogance, among others.
Already, groups within NDC have threatened to organize series of demonstrations to force the government to either amend or withdraw the military corporation between the two countries.

But responding to those issues, Mustapha Hamid has insisted that the US government will not establish a military base in Ghana, as far as the agreement is concerned.
“The Americans have not requested for a military base in Ghana so why should someone claim there will be a military base when the president has said that he will not allow a military base in the country”, he said.
Mustapha added that the president’s statement on the agreement should serve as enough assurance to those agitating over the deal.
