There is tension at Kwahu-Abene following the installment of renowned Pathologist Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa as Chief of the town which is the royal seat of Kwahuman Traditional area, hence automatically becomes the Paramount Chief of Okwahuman.
The enstoolment ceremony held three days ago has revived the protracted chieftaincy dispute in the Area.
One of the factions is alleged to have called on the youth to put on their “war smock” to fight.
Some Chiefs and Heads of families in the Kwahu Traditional Area led by the Acting Paramount chief of Kwahuman Nana Asiedu Agyemang III has stated that the enstoolment of the renowned pathologist, as paramount chief of the area is illegal and uncustomary hence cannot be accepted as Chief.
Professor Akosa, who is also a senior member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) was a allegedly enstooled as the paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional area on Thursday dawn at Abene after undergoing customary rites to be outdoored in a week latter.
At a press conference at Abetifi on Friday, the the agitating chiefs who were clad in red, said Professor Akosa was illegally enstooled hence do not recognize him.
The Acting Kwahumanhene, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III, who doubles as chief of Abetifi took the opportunity to declare war and asked all chiefs within the traditional area to rise up and defend the Kwahu stool.
The aggrieved chiefs and elders slaughtered a white sheep and poured libation to the gods demonstrating their resentfulness.
This has led to security beef up in the area as tension continue to rise. Some armed Police personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain peace.
Since the death of late Paramount Chief of Kwahuman traditional area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III in September 2014, Kingmakers have failed to enstool a successor due to disagreement over the right heir.
About 15 candidates were contesting for the stool, a situation which led to several clashes and destruction of properties.
