I'm a Deputy Sports Minister, I don't grant Visas – Hon.Pius Hadzide

-

The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide, has debunked claims that he is granting visas and accreditations to Ghanaians traveling to Australia for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This comes after the deportation of some Ghanaians from Australia who claimed to be journalists.
According to him, it’s not the ministry who handles accreditations and visas but rather the Ghana Olympic Committee, specifically the Chef De Mission office.
“I’m the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, not the Consular at the Australian High Commission”, he told Asempa FM.
“Even my visa was granted through the GOC [Ghana Olympics Committee] together with the Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah who travelled to Australia for ministers’ meeting ahead of the games”.
Ghana will be represented by 72 athletes, 22 coaches and 12 Officials for the games, and will be looking forward to improving on the two medals they won at the 2014 Commonwealth Games with 5 medals at the 2018 games.
The Commonwealth Games is slated from April 4-15.
