The military agreement has already attracted  public condemnation by many who feel Ghana’s sovereignty as a country could be compromised by the deal.
Though Parliament approved the agreement, the minority in parliament, led by Haruna Iddrisu staged a walkout leaving only the minority to ratify the deal.
But Mr. Agyapong observes the advantages of the deal may far outweigh the disadvantages.

“We have advantages and disadvantages of this US military deal. If we have the American soldiers in this country, trust me, our security will be boosted. If they take Ghanaian soldiers to the  US for training, that is a positive one”, he said.
Kennedy Agyapong who was speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday  said he was surprised  at the stance  of the NDC Members of Parliament whose tenure saw a similar agreement signed in 1998 and 2015.
“Look at  the members of the NDC who clandestinely signed this deal in 2015. They are the ones protesting now.  We are only ratifying  a move you made  so where from the noise”, he quizzed.

But Mr. Agyapong  who seems to agree with the NDC over Ghana losing its sovereignty, warned Ghana not to cede so much power to the US.
“The only thing I agree with the NDC is that our sovereignty may be at stake. It can only happen if we give them too much power. When too much power is given, they [US] will rule over us; trust me”, he warned.
