Listen to Akando

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso in the Western region, Kwabena Mintah Akando, claims the arrest of the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho is diversionary.
According to him, the arrest is a strategy by government to shift attention from the public debate on the controversial defence cooperation agreement between Ghana and the United States.
He believes that the move is laced with propaganda to cloud attention on the implications for the revelations surrounding government’s move.

“I think Koku’s arrest is needless and should not be entertained. I believe it’s just a diversionary tactics. It’s just a way to shift attention from the main issue which has to do with the US military base in Ghana. It’s dangerous”, he said.
Mr. Akando was speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show, “Badwam” Wednesday.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service picked up Mr Anyidoho on Tuesday, 27 March, for inciting civilians to launch a coup d’etat against the Akufo-Addo government.

He said the move does not augur well for a democratic country like Ghana.
“What the government and the police are doing is senseless because what Koku said does not warrant this unnecessary thing [arrest]”, he said.
