NIA receives 62 cars to commence registration work

Government has given the National Identification Authority (NIA) 62 vehicles to commence registration of all the people in the country and issue them with National Identification cards.
Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia presenting the vehicles to the NIA urged them to ensure that the mass issuance of National IDs begin in April as announced.

Dr. Bawumia noted that, the National ID Card will help identify everyone in the country uniquely.
He said institutions like EC, passport office; Birth and Death will all depend on the NIA data to enhance their work.
Regarding the processes, the Vice President indicated that birth certificate, passport and digital address will be required but those who do not have will need relatives or two persons registered to vouch for them on oath.

The Director General of SSNIT, John Ofori Koranteng reading a speech on behalf of Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei said, the Communication team is ready to embark on Nationwide Education campaign to create mass awareness of the registration.
He hinted that, the registration exercise will begin in April and last for two months and move to the Central region.
NIA Boss Prof Ken Ateffuah explained that the vehicles will help augment the depleted and weaken fleet of NIA and that, they are ready to go out to get every Ghanaian registered.
