Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyepong and former President Jerry John Rawlings are engaged in what could be a long battle.
The MP has accused the former president’s family of using their power to help one Traboulsi Marwan to engage in what he describes as “dubious” contract at Ghana’s airport.
Mr. Agyepong says Traboulsi is causing great havoc at the airport but is not being punished because he is linked to the powerful force of the Rawlingses.

The former first family, according to Kennedy Agyapong, is preventing Marwan’s ‘dubious’ airport cargo contract from being reviewed, as the said contract is a rip-off of the Republic of Ghana and has been running since July 2012 when it was signed.
“How can you have an agreement with this company on 20th July 2012 and tell us that by Regulations of the Company the draft will be provided by the Ghana Airport Company Limited.

No rent for 20 years! Who does that?” he asked. The allegations leveled by Kennedy Agyapong follows previous ones made against some members of the NPP and also that of the NDC.
But, barely 24 hours after Mr. Agyapong’s accusations, former President Rawlings has come out to defend himself.
According to Mr. Rawlings, contrary to the MP’s claim, he [Rawlings] and his wife have no interest in the business.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting of cadres and NDC activists at the Arts Centre in Accra on Saturday, Mr Rawlings described Mr Marwan as ‘brilliant’ and ‘efficient’.
“I will defend him any day as one of the most efficient and brilliant minds that I have come across. He was one of the first to go into large-scale farming and the export of pineapples during the revolution.

Others did the same but his operations were so efficient that he was doing much better than some of the others. He later secured an aircraft that not only exported his produce but that of other farmers,” the former President said.
He explained the circumstances under which Mr Marwan came into cargo handling and how efficient he has been pointing out that there was an attempt to spoil his good name.
“Traboulsi… left farming and diversified into cargo handling where his efficiency won him a bid to manage cargo handling at the airport.
“His efficiency level was so high we could beat South Africa by 30 minutes in cargo handling operations. Today some want to spoil the names of good people just like we do in our party,” Mr Rawlings said in an obvious reply to Ken Agyapong’s allegations.
