Former Hearts of Oak coach, Frank Nuttall is demanding a compensation package of $12,000 in salary arrears, bonuses and price money after the club terminated his contract last month.
The Scots man was suspended indefinitely for unsporting and unethical behaviour with a three-member committee instituted to investigate his dealings.
After the findings of the committee, it was established that the former Zamalek FC coach was the reason behind players refusal to extend their contracts because he had promised them new clubs abroad.
However, Nuttal wants his former employers to settle monies due him as contained in his contract.
Hearts PRO, Kwame Opare Addo has admitted that the club has received a letter from Nuttall’s lawyer demanding payment.
But a Hearts insider confirmed to graphic Sports in an interview yesterday that the club owed Nuttall some money and were ready to refund it only after undertaking reconciliation of figures because they doubted the quantum being demanded by the coach.
“There are some in dispute so once the management have not agreed to all that, we can’t confirm that to be the actual amount involved”, the Hearts source said.
According to the source, the club owed their former coach just one and a half month salary and not what Nuttall was demanding.
”Actually, his salary for January and half of February that he worked…but he is making other claims up to $12,000 plus, [sic] but it’s up to management to agree to all the demands”, the source said.
“The source further noted that although it was specified in the coach’s contract that he would benefit from a bonus for every trophy he helped the club to win, the Ghana @ 60 trophy was not considered as a major competition that required payment of a bonus as being demanded by the coach”.
“Hearts adequately compensated both technical team and the playing body after the Ghana @60 Cup triumph and so I’m wondering why Nuttall would ask for additional money when he had already taken something”, the source added.
Frank Elliot Nuttall joined the Phobians last season on a two-year deal and finished in 3rd position at the end of the 2016/17 GPL campaign.
He also led his side to the final of the MTN FA Cup but lost out to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.
