$742k FIFA grant funds Upper East pitch — GFA

-

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has disclosed that $742,000 from the FIFA Forward Programme was invested in the construction of the first-ever FIFA-standard football pitch in the Upper East Region.

The new facility was officially unveiled on Tuesday, April 15, at the GFA premises.

As part of the ceremony, the GFA also handed over Nissan 4×4 pickup vehicles to eight Regional Football Associations to support football development at the grassroots level.

This initiative, according to Mr. Okraku, forms part of his broader commitment to strengthening the foundation of football across the country, especially in underserved regions.

“The office in France, in Paris, has been very supportive of the Ghanaian FA in our agenda to fix the fundamentals or the very foundation of our football,” he said.

“Today, the people—our brothers and sisters in Upper East—have access to a FIFA-certified full-standard football pitch, which also houses the first-ever GFA Elite Football Academy.”

“I am sure somebody will ask, ‘How much did that cost?’ Today I will tell you. That project, funded by FIFA, cost $742,000,” he added.
