1. What not to ask on a first date
What not to ask can sometimes be more important than what to ask on a first date. All the dating advice that a person grows up listening to points at this one thing—the future of a relationship depends a lot on the first date. If you want to impress your partner, it’s imperative to choose your words carefully while talking because if everything turns out perfect, you will have a lot of of time to speak your mind, right? Let’s look at a few things you should avoid asking on a first date.
2. What are your hobbies?
Asking about a person’s hobby might at first seem like a good idea. But this is one topic that not all might be happy talking about. What if her hobby is grooming her pet and you have a dislike for anything that sheds a lot of fur? Do you want to spend the evening talking about a topic you have no interest in at all? Also, the question, ‘What are your hobbies?’ sound more like a topic for school essays meant for class six students!
3. Why did your last relationship end?
If the preceding questions are bad, this is even worse. Anything related to a person’s past love life should be avoided on a first date. This is a very personal question and no one is comfortable answering that on the first meeting. Don’t worry, you will have enough time to figure out his or her past love life if the first date goes well.
4. Who else is there in your family?
Questions related to the family should normally be avoided on a first date. For all you know, the person might not be in good terms with his family and therefore he might be taken aback by this question. Moreover, it is too early to know about his family and it would only make you look inquisitive.
5. You seem like a good person. Why are you still single?
This seemingly deceptive question starts with a compliment but then it ends with your curiosity to know what’s wrong with the person that he is still single! Also, it implies that people who are single aren’t good. So never ask a person why is he single when he appears to be such a good person.
6. Where do you see this relationship heading?
Do you want to sound desperate? When you ask where a relationship is headed on the very first date, it implies that you have already made elaborate plans about the future with the person. Remember, a first date is not about planning your future.
7. Can we take a selfie?
This is for all selfie-obsessed people out there—asking for a selfie on a first date is a very bad move. First, not everyone is comfortable posing and second, you have just met and it definitely is not a good idea to take selfies with a person when you have no idea if you will be going on more dates or not.
