65 homes burnt in Karaga during fight over cattle

Police in the Northern region have confirmed the burning down of 65 houses, three motorbikes and 10 bicycles in Bagurugu in the Karaga District.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Northern Region Police Command, the cattle of one Tahiru Ali who lives at Bagurugu, reportedly destroyed a rice farm belonging to Alhassan Kanako, a resident of Gagurugu.

Incensed by the development, Mr Kanako and three others allegedly went to Bagurugu to attack Mr Ali.

Not satisfied with the attacks on Mr Ali, the rice farmer and his people allegedly returned later to set the community on fire.

Four people are reported injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Tamalegu CHIPS Compound in the district.

Police have commenced investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.
