A six-year-old child of New Legon AdMA Model Primary School has died after falling into an abandoned pit full of water around the school compound.

The boy was pronounced dead at Pantang Hospital after being rushed there on a motorbike by his parent.

According to Adom News report, the late KG1 pupil was among three children who were playing in a neighbour’s compound when he fell into the pit.

People in the community became aware of the incident after the two other children rushed to inform them that their friend had fallen into the pit.

The mother of the deceased, little Francis, Margaret Sarpong on Adom Midday News expressed shock at the death of her son.

She said the death is due to negligence on the part of the teachers, who could not safeguard the life of her child.

She is seeking justice to ensure the protection of other children in the school.

Residents in the New Legon community say the lives of pupils in the school are at risk.

They alleged that, three children have died in similar circumstances in the last three years.

They believe that fencing the school could prevent such tragedies.

The incident has been reported to the Adentan Police.
